Star Wars all set to cross the USD 1 billion

Within a week of its release, the hugely awaited Star Wars The Force Awakens, has shattered many records at the box office.
Box Office pundits forecast the movie to cross USD 1 Billion mark by the Christmas weekend if the collection goes on with the same fervor. 
Be it the tickets pre-sale or highest box office collection, the seventh installment of Star War series has taken the Hollywood by storm just a week after its release. JJ Abrams film The Force Awakens has earned USD 765.9 million worldwide which still continues to rise in bigger numbers.
The film has gathered USD 363.5 million domestically in a week span, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Being one of the greatest opening of Hollywood of  all times, Star Wars has earned USD 38.1 million from 4314 theatres on the first day. 
Though Star Wars failed to break the record of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart starrer The Twilight Saga Eclipse which scored the biggest opening with USD 68.5 million in June 2010.
Jurassic World currently holds the record of reaching the billion mark in the first 13 days of its release. But pundits have also argued saying that the Jurassic world had got its opening in China as well on the same date giving it a clear leverage whereas Force Awakens doesn't open in China until January 9.
The seventh sequel of the space fantasy series has been ranked as No.3 on the list of top grossing films in North America lagging behind Jurassic World (USD 652.3 million) and Avengers Age of Ultron (USD 459 million).
Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012 in USD 4.06 billion which originally had the rights to produce Star Wars. The seventh instalment of Star Wars saga is set 30 years after the events of  Return of the Jedi. In the new film veteran actors such Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprise their roles. The new film also introduces new character such as Rey, a young scavenger played by newcomer Daisy Ridley and a stormtrooper called Finn (John Boyega).
The film also stars Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o and Domhnall Gleeson.
JJ Abrams critically acclaimed film released on Christmas in India. In India on its Thursday preview collected 1 crore which raked upto 3.58 crore on Friday. Grossing in total 4.58 crore within 2 days of its release. Star Wars has been released in India in four languages English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
